Q 1: What will I do if I have forgotten my password
A: You can get new password from here. It is important that you register with correct information, so that if you have any problems with password or your account we will know who you are.
Q 2: How do I post photos?
A: Photos posted on profiles and in diary entries must be stored on your hard drive. Use the Browse button to select the desired photo.
Q 3: How do I change my user icon/avatar?
A: Go to My Profile - Settings, delete the photo or image you are presently using and Browse to find the new photo/image you wish to use. Click Save at the bottom of the page. Then press ctrl+f5 (this refreshes the page) at the same time and wait until you see Done at the bottom left of the page. Sometimes there’s a slight delay in the new icon appearing on your user profile (because your browser caches information) but it will appear on forum posts and comments immediately.
Q 4: How do I change the photo that appears on my dog/cat’s profile page?
A: Go to My Profile - My Dogs/Cats - Photos and under each photo you will see the option “Make Primary”. Click that for the photo to become the profile photo.
Q 5: How do I change the “cover” photo on an album?
A: Click My Profile in the top menu bar. Scroll down until you see the album with the photo you want to change and click the photo. All the album photos will appear with an Edit button under each one. Choose the photo you want for the cover photo and click Edit. In the window that appears, you’ll see a line that says “Photo for Album Cover”. Click the little box, Save and that photo will now be the cover photo.
Q 6: What are bonuspoints and how can I get them?
A: Bonuspoints are fun to have to be able to „buy“ a design for your dogs’ profile or give virtual gifts to your dogs’ buddies. How to get points you can read from here.
Q 7: What are the little stars that appear beside some user names?
A: The gold stars are the Administration team who manage the site, implement new features, correct problems and maintain order throughout the site.
The pale green stars are Level 1 moderators who watch for infractions of site rules both in writing and photos and offer help and support to users.
The bright green stars are Level 2 moderators who ensure site rules are followed, offer help and support to users and keep the site clean, fair and enjoyable for all.
Q 8: How can I make a new club
A: You can make a new club if you have 500 bonuspoints. Just go to clubs homepage and click „Make a new club“. The club will be accepted by moderators or admins and after that you will get a doggiemail and you will see the club under your profile.
Q 9: How can I add a colorful design to my dog profile?
A:It is really easy :) There are plenty of designs to choose from and you can buy the one you like best.
Go to My Profile => My dogs => Personalize
A window will open with many different designs. Every design costs some bonus points.
Most of the designs will be yours forever, once you have bought them. Some cheaper ones expire with time (for example Christmas and other holiday designs). Before you buy the design, you can look preview with it, to make the final decision.
Q 10: How can I add a frame to a photo?
A: Champion members can add frames to photos they upload. Frames are different from common wooden frames to flowery pink ones.
Currently frames can be added to new photos only.
As a Champion member you can add frames on the 2nd step after you have chosen the picture from your computer.
Q 1:Where can I see the forum and site rules?
A: Click the blue link “Forum Rules” at the top of any forum thread.
Q 3: Should I use emoticons?
A: Yes, it’s good to use emoticons instead of acronyms (LOL,.BTW) or abbreviations as they can be understood by everyone. However, do not use too many at one time. As stated in the forum rules: four emoticons in a row are not better than one! Emoticons do not appear as images in forum thread titles, profile titles or diary entry titles and neither do codes (html, bbcode, etc) appear in these places. They do appear as images in forum posts, mood messages, the body of profiles and the body of diary entries.
Q 4: Can I post photos in forums?
Yes, you can post a photo in forum and there are several ways to do it.
1. You can use a photo that you have uploaded for Uniteddogs or Unitedcats. You have to save the direct link for a photo, depending on browser it works a little different.
Mozilla Firefox - click right mouse button choose on the picture "copy image location"
Internet Explorer - click right mouse button on the picture, click "Properties" and copy the link from "Address URL"
Chrome - Click right mouse button on the picture and choose "Copy image URL"
Now the direct link for the photo you want to use is saved and you can copy it anywhere you want.
2. You can also use photos that are stored on an image hosting site like Photobucket.
Copy the direct link code (either from browser or image hosting site), click the mountain icon under the text box and paste the code. Animations (gifs) will appear animated in forum threads but not in diary entries.
Q 5: How do I post a link in a forum thread?
A: Copy the url of the page, click “www” under the text box and past the url. A second window will appear allowing you to give a name to the link and that name will appear in your post.
Q 6: How do I put a video in a forum post?
A: First the video must be uploaded on Youtube. Copy the url of the page and paste it directly into the text box. You can only insert one video per post.
Q 7: How can I make bold, italic, underscored, colored and different sized text in a forum post?
A: Highlight the portion of your post that you want to emphasize and then click the “B”, “I” or “U” under the text box for bold, italic or underscored. To make a portion of your post another size, highlight the text, click the “T” button under the text box and enter the size you want to use (3 is normal size). To make a portion of your post another color, highlight the portion, click the “T with colored box” under the text box and type in the desired color.
Please DO NOT misuse this by making all your post bold, larger than normal or colored. All posts are equally important and one should not stand out more than others.
Q 8: How do I quote all or part of another post?
A: To quote all of another post, click the Quote button beside it. To quote part of a post, copy the portion you want to reply to, click the quotation mark (") under the text box and paste it into the window that appears. The area for pasting looks small, but it will hold everything that you paste. In order to keep forum threads short and easily readable, please DO NOT quote the post directly before yours nor any more of a post than the portion to which you are replying.
Q 9: What are the little file folders beside the lists of forum threads?
A: A folder with a jumping yellow paper indicates that you haven’t read the last post in that thread.
A folder with a white paper and red exclamation mark indicates an important thread.
A folder with a padlock indicates that the thread has been deactivated.
Q 1: Why aren’t all the breeds listed on the main page?
A: On the main page breed list only these breeds are shown who have recently registered on Uniteddogs. The more this breed dogs we have on Uniteddogs the bigger the text size of this breed name is.
Q 2: What are Uniteddogs Widgets in other social networks and how can I install one
A: There are already 3 social networks where you can add a fun widget of your dog to your profile.
