The thing about my parents is they where not that big on pets. When they where younger they wherent at least, my parents spoke about getting their first dog for a year. Then they did some re search on Chihuahuas and agreed that would be the dog that they where going to get.
They decided to get one while my mom was finishing up college she was at home more than my dad at this time. They told me that it was overwhelming at first while they got prepared to bring a new puppy home.
They realized they would have to have a pet sitter Incase we ever went out of town. The thought of having to get up at night to take turns on pottying the puppy. That sort of thing everything that comes to mind when you get your first dog the good and bad.
They went and got Amos even though he was not a full bred chihuahua we all still loved him. We all loved him, very much he was full of energy and always doing things to make us smile and laugh.Even company that would come over grew to love him everyone from relatives and friends knew Amos.
In the summer my dad would barbecue every Saturday. It was a tradition both relatives and friends would come. There would be a lot of in and out from the front of the house to the backyard. Most of it coming from us kids running and playing.
Well one of those saturdays someone came to the barbecue who had never came before. Their children kept having to be reminded to keep the gate to our yard shut. One of them was a lot younger than any of the kids at our house they left the gate up.
That’s when Amos finally noticed that it was and left our property. It toke awhile for anyone to realize that the dog was missing. We don’t know how long he had been lose or how long the gate was left open. When my dad and his friends went out to look for Amos they had no luck.
Later that night one of my uncles went with my dad to try and find Amos again. This time they came back to tell my mom that our family pet had been ran over . That they found Amos four blocks away and he wasn’t breathing.
Our first family pet left paw prints in all of our hearts. Our dog was so small that anyone wouldnt of seen him it didn’t matter if it was a car or truck. It toke awhile for us to heal my parents told my siblings and i when we missed Amos to look up and he would be right there.
